Lifespan Religious Exploration - Adult Education
Adult programs support and encourage life-long learning for
those 18 and beyond.
They aim to help participants:
- Deepen trust with fellow travelers continuing their
spiritual journeys in our UU community
- Refine the search of individual and communal spiritual
practices, moral reasoning and theological discourse
- Create a foundation for community outreach
- Identify and explore personal gifts and talents that can
be used in the different fellowship ministries
Educational events – lectures, discussions, classes are offered
throughout the year. The Adult LRE Committee with support from the
minister and DRE organizes these programs. Announcements are made
in the newsletter, the Sunday bulletin and the website. The Adult
LRE committee welcomes suggestions for programs. New members are
always welcome.
Adult Our Whole Lives (OWL)
Adult OWL is part of the lifespan sexuality program
developed by the United Church of Christ and the Unitarian
Universalist Association. It is a series of workshops
providing an overview of many aspects of human sexuality. It
provides an opportunity to better understand sexuality and
self. The group will meet once a month Sept.-June. Pamphlets
with details and schedule are available at the LRE table.

Sunday Forum
The Sunday Forum resumes September, 8:45—9:45 a.m. in the
library. It is an extension of last year’s program in which
adults gathered for informal discussions of various topics,
one being the Unitarian Universalist principles and sources. Suggestions for topics are welcome.

Evensong (formerly Chalice Lighters)
This small group ministry group will meet once a week for
two hours starting October 8th. The format of the
meetings helps participants set aside daily distractions,
reflect on their lives and beliefs and make meaningful
connections with one another. Through sharing their
wisdom, members leave each meeting with a deeper
understanding of themselves and of each other. The
focus of each meeting is a topic or activity that serves as
a springboard into reflection on deeper issues of who we are
and what gives our lives meaning. Chalice Lighters is
not group therapy, nor a discussion group, nor a support
group, nor a brainstorming session. It is a spiritual
practice whose main elements are authentic sharing and deep
listening. While one member speaks, other members
listen in supportive silence – a group meditation based on
shared life experiences. The Chalice Lighters group is
limited to 8-12 people.
