The UUFVB choir is a delightful group of individuals
who are willing to channel their individual energy into the common goal of making
music to enhance our Sunday services and to bring joy to all of our lives. They
serve as worship leaders throughout the worship service, leading hymns, acting as
chalice lighters and readers, as well as providing special music nearly every week.
The choir always welcomes new singers. No audition is required; however, a choir singer should
have a love of singing, a love of learning, and a cooperative spirit.
From September through June, the Choir rehearses every Wednesday evening from 7:00-8:30 in the
sanctuary, entering the building from the west side, Door D. There is no choir rehearsal
during July and August.
In addition to their weekly anthems, the choir offers other musical experiences to the
congregation. Once a year, the Choir leads the congregation in Music Sunday. This special
service is filled with both choral and congregational singing, as well as individual readings,
often written by members of the choir themselves. On May 3, 2009, they introduced the
first of their “P.S. Concerts.” This concert presented to the congregation
the “Best of the Choir” from their recent repertoire.
On February 27 and 28, the Choir successfully hosted the
Fourth Annual Florida District Choral Festival. The following article is
