Director of Lifespan Religious Education
Claudia Jiménez is Director of Lifespan Religious Exploration (DRE), overseeing programs for children, youth and
adults. She has worked as DRE at our Fellowship since 2001. Claudia was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and
emigrated to the US when she was five years old. She returned to Colombia as a teenager with her family, and
later attended college in the US. She taught elementary and middle school science for 10 years in Colombia,
Brazil, Canada and the US before deciding to stick to one job: being a DRE. She is passionate about education,
and is enthusiastically working with our congregation to develop a top-notch lifespan (from infant to elder) program at UUFVB.
Claudia has two bachelor’s degrees: BA in Spanish Literature and General Biology from Cornell University (1987)
and BEd in Intermediate Education from Queen’s University (1990) in Ontario, Canada. She has also accrued
17 credits towards a Masters in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. She lives with her
husband and daughters in Vero Beach, on the same street as her parents and mother-in-law. When not at the
Fellowship, Claudia enjoys cooking, working out at the gym, reading and volunteering in various community outreach
programs. She prides herself on being surrounded by family, who are talented musicians, and the music of the ocean.
