November 2 – And Not Forgotten – Rev. Dr. Maureen Killoran
Throughout the ages and around the world, people have found ways to remember those who have died.
This morning we reflect on some of these diverse traditions, and consider how they connect with our own feelings and
actions. Please bring a picture or other memento of a loved one who has died, as we create an “altar
of remembrance” at the beginning of the service.
** Remember to set your clocks back one hour as daylight savings time ends. **
November 9 – Letting Go of Outcomes
– Rev. Dr. Maureen Killoran
A sermon with hints for surviving -- no, for thriving -- in a difficult world. You are invited to come this morning
prepared for a surprise or two.
** Sharing of Sustenance Sunday **
Bring contributions of non-perishable food or cash for the Indian
River Food Pantry, diapers for HIV babies in foster care, and craft items for teachers as we reach out to those in need in our local community.
November 16 – God is Not a Turtle – Rev. Dr. Maureen Killoran
A would-be humorist once said that UU ministers preached on God once a year, whether they needed to or not.
While she does not promise to make it a once-only event, this Sunday Rev. Maureen explores the three-letter
metaphor, G-O-D. Secular humanists take note: this sermon is designed to tickle, provoke, or intrigue just
about everyone.
Guest pianist this morning is Judy Carter, whose talents are familiar to many in our Fellowship.
November 23 – We Give Thanks – A Service for Everyone – Rev. Dr. Maureen Killoran, Claudia
Jiménez, Ann Hossler, and friends
The celebration of Thanksgiving is always more poignant – and at the same time more necessary – in hard times. This
morning our whole church community is invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of the many reasons we have to
give thanks.
November 30 – Saying Yes for Such a Time as This – Paul Amaru, co-local representative for
the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee
Have you experienced the feeling of being the right person in the right place at the right time? Rosa Parks didn't
set out to change the course of history on December 1, 1955. She “just wanted,” she said, “to go home.” But her decision to stay seated at the front of the bus set in motion a boycott that energized a powerful movement for
justice and freedom. Rosa Parks was the right person in the right place for such a time, and Rosa Parks said yes.
