Membership Committee
It is the Membership Committee’s
responsibility to integrate new members into the Fellowship.
This includes efforts to invite people to attend services,
provide education about Unitarian Universalism, UUFVB and the
benefits and responsibilities of membership.
Committee Meetings
Our meetings are usually held the 1st Tuesday of the month
at 5pm am in the Library. We occasionally change our meeting
time to meet the needs and schedules of the committee so be
sure to check the newsletter and Town Crier for the month’s
meeting time. Committee meetings are open to all. If you have a
specific agenda item, we request that you contact the
Chair, Melissa Mefford at membership@uufvb.org.
Path to Membership Class
This program is strongly encouraged for those considering membership at UUFVB. We cover
such topics as brief UU history, UU Principles and Purposes, congregational polity, ministry
programs, the benefits and responsibilities of becoming a member. It is offered quarterly
and is 4 hours, usually on a Saturday morning. Food and Childcare is provided so it is necessary
to sign up at the Welcome Table. Class dates:
Saturday November 17, 2007 9am-1pm (2 evening class), Tuesday January 29, 2008 and
Wednesday January 30, 2008 6pm-8:30pm.
Intro to UU Class
This is an informal class held on the 3rd
Sunday each month. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and meet in the
Library at 11:30am. The discussion lasts about 30 minutes and
offers a glimpse of what Unitarian Universalism is, how UUFVB
operates and ways to learn more about the Unitarian Universalist
Fellowship of Vero Beach (UUFVB). No sign up is necessary
unless you need childcare. If you need childcare, please let
someone at the Welcome Table know the week before so we can arrange
it.

The Membership Committee also performs the following functions:

Officially welcoming new members and guests.

Provides new members with New Member Packets and
coordinates New Member Recognition Ceremony.

Hosts a New Members Coffee to introduce new members to each other.

Provides monthly Introduction to UUFVB classes and
quarterly Path To Membership Classes to
assist new members and visitors to gain a better
understanding of membership in the Fellowship.

Maintains records of membership and periodically
arranges for publication of member lists.

Arranges for people to staff the
Welcome Table at Sunday services.

Updates the Membership Directory as needed.

Maintain records of attendance for Sunday services.
